When in pursuit of the law and nothing less it can bring the ending of the person. In Antigone Kreon was not accepting of anything less then what the law and justice he claimed. In the end it was ultimately his down fall. The man in the Kafka story waiting for justice and the law and ultimately was his end. The law and justice he was looking for was only his law and justice and not everyone. It like everyone has a idea of a pure world and what right and wrong. It was only his idea of right and wrong and in his stubbornness he end up finished.
Antigone there was one event watch caused a chain reaction. This seems to be a common theme inside of Tragedy. In antigone there was a event where two brothers ended up killing each other. The sister help buried which made the king angry and sentence her to death which cause her bride groom to committed suicide which cause her mother to commit suicide. Usually tragedies take a small event and it start to cause other events happen that start to spiral out of control. Usually the first event has unintentionally consequence.
Tragedy Does not always have to be shown through words and a list of chaining events to create a story. Some tragedies can be shown in just one snapshot or picture. Sometimes it can be series of pictures. Multiple pictures can give clues to narrow down the possibilities and give out more information of what the event is. Tragedies can be shown not only through written stories but also pictures, movies, symbols and many other forms of media. If you can take away something from it it probably have the potential of representing a tragedy.
My definition of tragedy would be defined by when a character life gets switched around either good to bad or bad to good. The character has no power over the choice or at least intention obvious choice. This destiny for his life to change is made by a outside greater power or a choice the character made early on and has a unintentional consequence. If the tragedy is caused by the main character then it was early in the story usually and at the time does not seem to the effect it ultimately has.
I would have define tragedy by when a story takes a the main character and the story ends in a poorly for the character. The tragedy is out of the characters control and could not change his fate that happens to him. I think tragic story like to prey on a lot of humans fears and emotions. Aristotle defines it such that it a reversal of fortune. It can be both bad to good and vice versus. But it better when it good to bad because it preys on the audience fears and pity. It helps clear the audiences emotions according to Aristotle and the tragedy is caused by the heroes actions and it had a negative impact in a way that was unforeseen.
